"The Human Is Still on the Hook: Using AI Without Outsourcing Judgment, Ethics or Trust"

Generative AI seems to offer free legal advice to those who have questions about the law. Unfortunately, there is no AI tool that can promise accurate advice, and every tool seems to speak as if it is always right. When can AI help you navigate legal questions, and when do you need a human being who is legally and ethically accountable? Join Professor Fraley as she helps you navigate AI and professional services.

About

Liz Fraley combines an almost unicorn-like background into proven trial and jury consulting skills. After 30 years as a highly lauded defense lawyer (Texas Super Lawyer, Best Lawyers in Dallas), she moved to Baylor Law, where she became the first woman in 100 years to teach in the nationally lauded Practice Court program, before taking over as Director of the program in 2025. She now works almost exclusively on high value, high acuity plaintiff cases, turning the defense playbook into a strategy for anticipating the attacks and winning the plaintiff's case. Her ease with juries and her clarity of vision for the thematic and visual approach to a case enhances every trial team, whether she serves as lead counsel or as a consultant. Liz serves as a national ABOTA board member and chairs the AI committee for ABOTA, where she creates innovative programming and policy statements for trial lawyers. She hosts a monthly podcast on cutting edge litigation issues, writes books and articles, and teaches full time in the Practice Court program. She is unwilling to let corporate America use their size and financial resources to avoid responsibility, and she believes the American jury system remains the best way to hold bad actors accountable.
